Independence Day Celebration

Our yearly Independence Day Celebration is held at Purcell Lake with a combination of food, games, and fireworks!  The fireworks show is made possible through donations from the City of Purcell, and fundraising by the Heart of Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce!  Local businesses, organizations, and the citizens of our community help make our fireworks show a success every year!  

Different food trucks and booths set up at Chandler Pavilion on the south side of Purcell Lake, just across the road from the Purcell Multipurpose Center.

Rules

Avoid the Launch Point for the Fireworks Show - Private Fireworks are Not Permitted - No Glass Bottles - No Motor Vehicles on Lake Trails

Food Trucks - Chandler Pavilion - 5:00pm to 10:00pm

Deluxe ice cream dishes from Contrabandz Ice Cream Lab, traditional state fair food from Carnival Eats & Treats, fresh kettle corn from Oklahoma Kettle Corn, get a snow cone from Mr. Yeti's Snow Cones, Vietnamese cuisine from Monkey's Food Truck, or try gourmet loaded tator tots from the Season 13 Great American Food Truck Race contestant Some Like It Tot!  We've got something for everyone!

Fun & Games - Chandler Pavilion - 5:00pm to 10:00pm

There is something for the whole family at Purcell City Lake!  Yaya's Inflatables will be selling wrist bands to keep the kids jumping all night! Amazing face painting by Heck Graphics!! Sand volleyball, beach swimming, fishing, and the Lake Trail are all at your disposal!

Classic Country and Western Dancing - Purcell Multipurpose Center - 7:00pm to 9:30pm

Join The Ole Troubadours for their Friday Night dance hosted in the gym at the Purcell Multipurpose Center!

Car Show - Registration Opens at 6:00pm - Show at 7:00pm

The Independence Day Celebration Car Show will open registration at 6:00pm at the Multipurpose Center Parking Lot. 

  • $20.00 entry fee per vehicle registered in the show.  
  • Picks for awards will start at 7:00pm.  
  • The car show will feature two raffles:
    • a 50/50 Cash Raffle - $1.00 per Ticket
    • a Ruger 10/22 Rifle Raffle - $10.00 per Ticket!  

Proceeds collected from vehicle registration and the 50/50 raffle will go to benefit McClain County Operation Christmas.

Fireworks - 9:45 pm

The fireworks show originates from the northeast corner of the lake where the lake dam meets the cemetery.  Come out to the lake, pick a nice spot, and enjoy the show!

3v3 Basketball Tournament - 10:00pm

The City of Purcell Parks and Recreation Department is hosting its first Independence Day 3v3 Basketball Tournament at the Purcell Multipurpose Center Outdoor Courts starting at 10:00pm when the fireworks end!
