The City of Purcell envisions McCurdy Park to be where ecological meadows meet the recreational oasis. Youth soccer, basketball, skateboarding, or a potential pool can be nestled into the plot at McCurdy Park.
The physical well-being of the citizens is important to the Purcell leadership, and they would like to reflect this value in the amenities of this quaint neighborhood park. The manicured sports fields or lively pool can be surrounded by Oklahoma native plants and serene pollinators to balance the sustainable harmony of the site. Children can learn to swim and learn to nurture pollinators all in the same setting – how unique is that!
McCurdy Park will be the local escape to play, pause, and enjoy the outdoors right in the heart of Purcell.
The City of Purcell can see the potential of McCurdy Park. This master plan documents the conditions and needs of the existing park, facilities, and community as of February, 2023. The Purcell Parks and Recreation Advisory Board listened to and recorded the community's ideas, needs, concerns and desires for the park. The master plan proposes a future vision for the park and establishes priorities for what areas are to be redesigned, renovated, reimagined, and programmed. This master plan also provides implementation guidance on funding opportunities, where to focus funding, and a 10-15-year timeline to achieve the vision established during the process.
On July 3rd, 2023, the Purcell City Council adopted the master plan presented by the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and Copeland Design Collective.
